New Richmond June 16 -- Mrs. Emma Simms LYON, wife of William Lyon and a resident of the Mount Pleasant community for the past 61 years, died at her home six miles north of Crawfordsville Saturday morning at 6 o´clock following an illness of nine years. Complications caused her death. Mrs. Lyon was born in Montgomery County on Oct 25, 1857, a daughter of George and Elizabeth Simms. She was united in marriage to William Lyon on April 30, 1878. Mrs. Lyon was a member of the Mount Pleasant Christian Church. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Lyon is survived by two sons, Wilbert of New Richmond, Ora residing north of Crawfordsville, 17 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Mills and Mrs. Mary Smith living north of Crawfordsville and one brother, Enoch Simms of Crawfordsville. Funeral services will be conducted at the home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o´clock; interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. - kbz

New Ricmond – Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the family home six miles north of Crawfordsville with interment in Mt. Pleasant cemetery for Mrs. Emma Simms Lyon who died Saturday. The wife of William Lyon, she succumbed at her home following an illness of nine years. She was born in Montgomery County Oct 26, 1857, a daughter of George and Elizabeth Simms and was married April 20, 1878 to Mr. Lyon. The family has lived in the Mt. Pleasant vicinity 61 years. Surviving are the husband; two sons, Wilbert of New Richmond and Ora, north of Crawfordsville; 17 grandchildren, five great grandchildren two sisters and one brother.
